sala4D was commissioned in September 2019 to develop a series of village masterplans for Coonamble, Quambone and Gulargambone. The key components and priorities of the masterplans sought aspirational, but realistic recommendations and actions to address the following: Coonamble CBD precinct; Coonamble CBD precinct public amenities; branding; town and village entrance signage; Coonamble Visitor Information Centre; Visitor Economy; and the Coonamble Bore Bath Complex. Detailed plans and artistic impressions were prepared for these key projects.
The masterplans were different from most, in that they included a tourism and branding review, recognising the interlinked nature of seeking to increase the economic viability of the Shire with both physical assets and marketing collateral. sala4D and their colleagues from Manning PR and Vaada graphic design, worked with the community of Coonamble through an in-depth consultation process, onto a presentation of the draft masterplan which went to public exhibition and ultimately, the final masterplan and costed schedule of works.
Individual projects of the masterplan were prioritised using a scoring tool which ranks importance against a range of criteria. This method maintains transparency and allows funds to be directed towards the most effective projects. Detail design is currently underway for some of these key projects including the Main Street and CBD, whilst the Coonamble Visitor Information Centre has already been completed.
