sala4D was commissioned in March 2020 to prepare a landscape masterplan to guide the management and development of the park over the next five years. sala4D worked with the community of Cootamundra through a values led consultation process, to develop the plan, a prioritised schedule of works and cost estimates. The masterplan was adopted by Council in early 2021.
The design principles which underpin the masterplan include enhancing the natural vegetation and bird life, which the community highly values, through creating a series of sculptural bird waterers set in a wet garden. Other works include providing additional park amenity to allow people to enjoy the mature Eucalyptus camaldulensis, and re-locating the Captains’ Walk (48 busts of previous Australian Text Cricket Captains) to provide access for all and upgrading of planting beds throughout the park.
Jubilee Park Masterplan was successful in 2021 in receiving grant funding under the NSW Public Space Legacy Program, to allow the masterplan to be constructed. Detail design and documentation for the complete revitalisation of the park, through a staged program of works, has been completed, with tenders awarded and construction expected to be completed by March 2023.
