sala4D was commissioned as part of a multi-disciplinary design team to prepare a development application for Woollahra Council, for the restoration and conservation of Duntrim House into residential accommodation for the boarders at Ascham School and a new science centre.
The Duntrim House and grounds were listed as a conservation area by Woollahra Council with many significant mature trees. Important consideration to how the landscape could be embraced as part of the girls’ everyday life was a key design principle.
A combination of contempotary hard and soft landscape elements, for use during and after school hours, provides a cohesive and comfortable design solution.
