sala4D and the consultant team were commissioned in August 2020 to prepare the Canowindra Mainstreet Precinct Plan including photomontages, prioritised schedule of works and cost estimates to guide the management and development of Council assets over the next five to ten years.
Working with the community of Canowindra through an Inquiry by Design consultation process, a series of evening events and pop-up day events were conducted. These community conversations establish key values and guiding principles of design which underpin the Precinct Plan proposals.
Canowindra Mainstreet Precinct Plan received $1 million of federal funding through the Building Better Regions Fund in October 2021.
Key projects include creating a stronger link and tourism opportunity between Gaskill Street and the Belubula River through footpaths and a riverside park. Also signalling to drivers, through visual triggers and landmarks, where the main street is to encourage people to stop and experience the charm and character of Gaskill Street.
